Petunjuk Derajat Pencegahan Frame Motor
(Enclosure Rating Motor/ degree protection)
Ketika kita akan membeli motor listrik, kita harus memberikan spesifikasi jelas terutama:
# Standard apa yang dipilih : NEMA atau IEC atau lainnya
# Selanjutnya yang akan mengikuti standard tsb. mengenai frame/dimension, derajat proteksi, dll
Standard yang terbanyak dipakai di dunia industri motor listrik, al:
- NEMA : National Electric Manufacturers Association
- IEC : International Electrotechnical Commission
Revisi terachir mengenahi Enclosure Ratings telah dipublikasikan oleh NEMA dengan Standard Publication no.250 dan IEC dengan IP Standard 60529

IEC Definisi
Standard IEC , 60529 menyebutkan Ingress Protection diberi kode 2 digit.
Digit pertama menentukan proteksi sebagai pencegahan bahaya masuknya barang benda padat.
Digit kedua pencegahan bahaya masuknya barang benda air.
Tabel berikut turunan dari standard aslinya.
IP 65 artinya : diproteksi dengan kawat 1.0 mm, artinya tidak bisa dimasuki debu dan dapat mencegah air bertekanan dari segala arah

NEMA vs IEC
Informasi ini dibuat oleh NEMA Standard No.250 Appendix A sebagai guide komparasi dari :
“NEMA Enclosure Type Number” ke “IEC Classification Designations“.
IEC tidak menyebutkan derajat proteksi mencegah kerusakan mekanis, risiko meledak, atau kondisi lembab/kondensasi, uap korosive, dll.
NEMA Standards Publikasi 250 meliputi test kondisi environmental , korrosive karat, es, oli, dan pendinginan. Oleh sebab itu maka konversi ini tidaklah persis sama.
Tabel dibawah ini tidak untuk konversi secara persis, jadi harus ada keterangan atau verifikasi test.
